We hope you’re well and are having fun preparing for all the awesome events coming up! Not to mention the holidays! ☺ Here’s a run down of the current happenings at M&M Academy.
Awards Ceremony
The date, time and all details on our upcoming ceremony is officially live! Please book your tickets by clicking HERE.
All the information regarding this event can be found on the page details following this link. Please remember that (unless you are a performer at the event) tickets are on a first come, first served basis. We have a limited number of tickets, so please book your place asap.
Merchandise
As some of you may be aware, for the Christmas period we have merchandise on sale! Some students and parents have expressed interest in the past in getting some merchandise for gifts or for themselves. Check out the cool poster attached to this email to see what we have available! If there’s something you’d like to purchase, just let us know and we’ll let you know the cost. If there’s something specific that you’d like that isn’t on the poster, let us know and we’ll tell you if we can get that item for you (for example we have polo T-shirts available as well as regular T-shirts).
All of these items can be personalised with your name.
Also, we’ve had quite a lot of interest in the hoodies. If there are enough people wanting to purchase hoodies then we may be able to buy them as a bulk discount, giving everybody a discounted rate. Just let us know if you’d like one!
Discounts
We’re currently offering 20% off guitar lessons and Taekwondo lessons to new students. Don’t forget that if you refer one of these new students, you will also be entitled to 20% off one month’s worth of lessons! If you’re under 18, you’ll also recieve a whopping 100 points on your rewards system! Awesome! ☺
Price Increase
As mentioned in our September Update, there have been a few changes in our Prices this year. These changes will come into place for all students beginning in January 2022.
The costs are:
Taekwondo – £30 per calendar month (single OR multiple lessons) or £10 per individual lesson.
Music Group Lessons – £30 per calendar month or £10 per individual lesson.
Private Guitar Lessons with Tony – £50 per calendar month for Under 18s or £60 per calendar month for Adults.
Private Guitar Lessons with our other tutores – £40 per calendar month for Under 18s or £50 per calendar month for Adults.
As always, a £10 discount is available if you take multiple subjects and a further £10 discount is available if multiple family members are taking lessons (discounts available up to a maximum of £20).
The last time we had a price increase was in 2017, so this isn’t something we do on a regular basis. Due to the rising costs and inflation, as well as the many more hours of gained experience from our teachers (thus leading to more professional tuition), we feel it’s now necessary to introduce an increase.

We have a few new features on our website, including a new news section (which now includes updates like this), new history pages, a student calendar for both Music and Taekwondo students, an updated Meet the Team page with our newest member to the music team now teaching lessons in Huddersfield! And a host of other things too. Check it out!
TAEKWONDO
The British Championships is incoming next Sunday! If you would like to take part in this, we need your completed form and details by this Saturday.
Please remember it’s £15 per event and £10 per spectators. Please send the payments across as soon as you’re able to.
Korean Christmas Meal
Traditionally after our last Taekwondo lesson, we head to the local Indian restaurant in Alfreton for our Christmas meal. This year we’ve had a few people express interest in making the meal more authentic in terms of our Korean practiced martial art. Therefore we’re considering booking out a space at Taste of Korea in Nottingham (https://www.facebook.com/Tasteofkoreanotts/) or the Korean House in Beeston (https://www.facebook.com/koreahousebeeston/). If this is something you’d be interested in joining us for, please let us know. If you have a preference too then we’d like to know. If we have enough numbers interested then we’ll get our spot booked! In terms of dates, this will either be booked on the Saturday that we break up (the evening of the 18th December) or on the following Monday (the evening of the 20th). Again, please feel free to let us know your preference.
3rd January 2022
This was originally going to be our first day back to Taekwondo, however we’ve been informed by Alfreton Leisure centre that they still won’t be fully open on this day due to the Christmas holidays. Therefore our first Taekwondo session back after Christmas will actually be Saturday the 8th and the following Monday 10th.
MUSIC
Winter Service
Our discounted Winter Instrument service is now in full swing. If you would like to have your guitar(s) serviced at a discounted price, now is the time to book in! Costs are £10 acoustic, £15 electric or bass, £20 electric with a floyd rose. These costs exclude the cost of strings (£6 if you want us to supply these for you). The deadline for getting your instrument serviced is Monday 13th (one week before we break up).
Christmas Songs
As you may be aware, from December onwards we’ll begin teaching Christmas songs (to those who wish to play them). If there is an unusual Christmas song that you’d like to play, now is the time to request that song so that we have plenty of time to prepare it for you. There are only 3 teaching weeks in December, so if you wait until the beginning of December to request your song, you won’t have a good amount of time to focus on it.
